The desk was designed to support a variety of functions and provide plenty of storage. But a large piece of furniture does not have to be a pain to move. The six components stack together without any nails or screws, making the desk both mobile and versatile.
The various shelves were designed to fit standard-sized binders and paper, as well as a laptop computer.

This credenza had been a great big old stereo cabinet in extremely rough shape. The sound equipment was beyond repair, but I knew it would make great storage. I replaced the broken legs, inserted two shelves, and moved the speaker fronts to the back to allude to the cabinet’s previous life. I painted a few select places, but left the existing wood veneer intact – “imperfections” and all.
Two shelves hung side-by-side above kitchen cabinets provide storage for books. A slight reveal keeps the weight off the cabinets. Although sized specifically for this space, the shelving was build in two sections to make it more versatile and mobile. In another setting, the shelves can be re-hung one above the other, or stood vertically.
